Welcome to the new Potsdam Greeks United!

I want to first toss out a huge Thank You to Suzanne Feener Johnston who got the ball rolling with the original Potsdam Greeks United site and Facebook/Instagram pages. We owe her a debt of gratitude for successfully connecting alumni and actives across all Greek organizations at Clarkson and Potsdam.

I'd like to also introduce myself: I am Lance Pickup. I graduated from Clarkson in 1988 (BSEE) and was a member of Alpha Chi Rho (pledged Fall '86). I have been active in our chapter's alumni board (building corporation) since 2014 and have been an advocate for improving communication among alumni all along. One key difficulty, however, is that most of the communication is one-way: out to alumni. There doesn't appear to be a good two-way communication vehicle that would promote communication among--and not just to--alumni. Frankly, I'm surprised someone hadn't created a forum such as this already. It's a frequent request to send out targeted messages to specific graduating classes to organize a reunion or event, but this becomes awkward given the current tools at our disposal.

Even the Facebook page that Suzanne set up is a one-way vehicle (page followers are not permitted to add new posts, although comments are two-way).

There is also an effort to come together as a group to promote Greek Life in general at Clarkson and Potsdam, as there has been a significant decline in interest in Greek Life, and as I'm sure you know, despite the negative publicity, the reality is that Greek Life for the most part has had a positive impact in our lives.

Mainly to address these issues, I decided to start this forum, where we may connect, reminisce, share information, and work together. It's a work in progress, so any suggestions are welcome.

Additionally, I can host private forums for each house. Reach out to me at contact@potsdamgreeks.net if you are interested in setting this up for your house.

So welcome to the Potsdam Greeks United forum! I hope you enjoy and get something out of it. Help spread the word to your fellow brothers and sisters and encourage them to participate!
